Programs We've Developed

Contra Costa County Office Of Education
In September of 2009, the CCC OOE Youth Development Services department contracted with us to provide tutoring to selected Foster Youth students attending high school. Each student will receive a pre and post assessment that will establish their specific needs and track their improvement.

Oakland Unified School District
In February of 2008, the OUSD Transitional Student Services contracted with us to provide tutoring to students in after-school in small group settings in group homes. The program was extended to one-on-one tutoring, as well as administering a CAHSEE test prep class over the summer and into ’08-’09 school-year.

West Contra Costa Unified School District
In May of 2007, the WCCUSD Foster Youth Services contracted with us to provide tutoring to selected Foster Youth students matriculating from 8th grade into 9th grade. They targeted 30 students to work with and “piloted” our program from August through December. They extended their contract through the ’07-’08 school year (and are currently continuing) due to student progress. Each student received a pre/post academic assessment and the results were very encouraging.

San Francisco Unified School District
In December 2005, the SFUSD Families in Transition Program (Title 1-PartA funding) contracted with the Buddy System to provide one-on-one, in-home tutoring for homeless children living in emergency and long term shelters. They “piloted” our program within 6 shelters and after several successful months, extended the program to over 15 shelters. We are now into our 3rd year and have served over 250 students, through one-on-one, group tutoring and after-school programs.
